FAQ:
How long does Operation Aware – Jenks Sexual Health & Wellness last?
Our program lasts five weeks. You will watch one lesson per week.
Who is teaching these lessons?
Operation Aware’s team of Prevention Educators all worked together to create and teach the lessons in our virtual format. I (Ms. Wiley) am your teacher’s assigned contact and can answer any questions on any lesson even if I am not the one teaching it. Your teacher can reach out to me with any questions or you can submit them on the link and they will be answered before the following weeks lesson. This virtual format has given you all the opportunity to meet more of our great Prevention Education staff!
How long will the lesson link work?
Your teacher will have access to all five lessons for six weeks.
The video link won’t load, what do I do?
Make sure you are using the most updated software on your device. Otherwise, you might have to switch internet browsers (example: try Google Chrome).
Are the lessons random or do they go in a specific order?
It’s important that you follow along with the lesson each week because the lessons build on one another, and for the current lesson to make sense, you may have needed to watch the previous lesson.
What happens if I miss a week?
Since many of our lessons build off information learned in previous lessons, we would prefer for you to watch each lesson in the correct order. Since your teacher will have access to all the lessons for six weeks, this should allow for you to get caught up on any lessons you may have missed. However, if time doesn’t allow for you to catch up, it is okay since you will not be tested on the content. We just want you to learn as much as you can from our program!
Will I be tested on this content?
No. This content is for growing your knowledge and awareness and not for a grade!
Do I have to write in complete sentences when taking notes?
No, you do not have to write in complete sentences unless otherwise instructed in the lesson or by your teacher.
How can I ask questions and share comments about the lessons?
Every lesson ends with a link (https://forms.office.com/r/csSc1dAJ03) where you can ask questions and share your thoughts. Please feel free to submit questions, comments and stories to the provided link.
How will I get my questions answered?
Occasionally on our Instagram and Facebook we will do a live broadcast that you can tune into or re-watch. In this broadcast, we will answer the most pressing questions that students have asked. We will email your teacher the information on when those lives will be when the time comes!
What should I do if I need help or I want to get help for a friend?
There is protocol in place to handle any inappropriate instances or behaviors at Jenks High School. If you or a friend are experiencing dating abuse, harassment, mental health issues, or other crises, please seek help from a guidance counselor or principal. If it is an emergency, you can seek help from ANY Jenks employee. We have also provided additional helpful resources with this packet. The number one priority of the district is that you are safe!
Do I have to participate in the program if I feel uncomfortable?
We understand that the content may trigger emotions that are uncomfortable. If you are concerned that the information will be overwhelming please discuss with your teacher or school counselor, we want you to feel safe and comfortable.
Still have questions?
Ask your teacher any remaining questions you may have, and they can reach out to us for the answer if needed.
We are so excited for you to participate in this informative and powerful program, and we are proud of your hard work during these challenging times! We wish we could be with you in person for this program, but we feel you will still learn a lot with our virtual curriculum. We are here to help and support you, and we are excited to learn with you. Let’s get started!
All the best,
Ms. Wiley and the Operation Aware Team
